Magnetic Plates

Introduction:
Plate
Magnets are important industrial iron separators that are meant for the
separation of fine ferrous materials and tramp iron, from many types of
free-flowing and pneumatically conveyed material like corn, sugar, flour,
gravel, plastic and others granular materials.
The plate magnets also goes very well with powdery, moist, lumpy, and abrasive
products and large debris that might choke, bridge, or cause rapid wear in
cartridge-based separators. Plate magnets are flexible enough to be deployed
above conveyors or below conveyor drive pulleys to capture contaminants.
They are
available in both flat and curved shapes and could be installed either above or
at discharge end of material flow. These plates are constructed with Strontium
Ferrite Magnets as well as with high energy Permanent Magnets placed in a
magnetic circuit. They are extensively used in CTC Tea machinery and in Biscuit
stacking machines. They can be manufactured for required dimensions.
Magnetic
plates are used for separation of trapped iron in industries such as:
·
Food (Tea,
Spices, Coffee, Cocoa, Milk Powder etc.)
·
Tobacco
·
Chemicals
·
Fertilizers
·
Pharmaceuticals
·
Foundry Sand
·
Cattle Feed
Materials
·
Minerals
·
Detergents
·
Conveying of
light weight tin containers
·
Conveying of
M.S. sheets using multiple plates
Lighter-duty Plate Magnets offer cost-effective choices for
applications with lower product flow rate, lower conveyor speeds, or thinner
burden depths. Magnetic Plates with Strontium Ferrite Magnets / Rare Earth
magnets can attract metal particles from thin layers of product conveyed on
flat belts from distance of 6”. .
·
Attract ferrous tramp from flat-belt.
·
Powerful Ceramic magnet reaches deep into
conveyed material upto 6”.
Threaded holes are provided for easy mounting of these plates with
other convenient option.
How does it work?

For Iron Removal Magnetic Plates are
generally located above the material flow. While flowing iron particles are
attracted by the plate. The magnetic field penetrates the product
flow and grabs tramp iron as it passes by the Plate. The concentrated field
holds tramp iron tightly to the magnet surface until removed during the
cleaning process.
For Holding
of Ferro Magnetic material like Tin/M.S. sheets, containers as they are
conveyed by the conveying belt multiple Magnetic Plates at number of locations
are used. This prevents the falling off sheets/containers from the conveyor.
Features:
·
Efficient cost-saving
recovery of harmful tramp iron in free-flowing materials.
·
Plate magnets can be mounted
both, above or below the product flow.
·
Magnets like ceramic or rare earth
magnets are normally used in plate.
·
Magnetic separators as they
capture maximum common ferrous debris.
·
Durable stainless steel
construction.
·
For easy cleaning hinged plates
can be swung out.
·
The plate magnets can be cleaned
both manually.
·
They are simple to
install and have no maintenance
·
Lightweight and
user-friendly
Specification:
·
The compact design of
these powerful magnetic separators makes them simple.
·
Standard
installations involve hinged models for swing–open cleaning.
·
Plates are also
available without hinges for stationary or suspended installations.
·
Rare Earth is
standard for food and pharmaceutical applications where product purity is
paramount.
·
There are two Types
of Plate Magnets:
a.
High intensity - (Ndfeb Magnet – 4500 gauss)
b.
Low intensity - (Ferrite Magnet – 1200 gauss)
Construction:

Magnetic
Plates are available in flat and curved shape with required dimensions.
The magnetic plates are made of
either Ferrite or Ndfeb magnets depending upon the required flux intensity. The
magnetic surface is of Stainless Steel 304/316.

Overband / Suspension Magnets

Introduction:
PML
Suspended Magnets are placed above open conveyors to arrest ferrous objects and
fines found in grains, feedstuffs, raw and processed products, dry chemicals, salt,
ceramics, Clinkers in Cement Industry, Coal conveying in power plants and many
other products.
Overband Magnets
are used for separation of big Ferrous particles like lugs, nuts, bolts,
rivets, ms plates, angles, channels and tools from moving material in conveyor
belt. It is used in industries like:
·
Cement
·
Coal Handling Plant
·
Salt processing industries
·
Glass
·
Paper
·
Refractory
·
Minerals (e.g. Bauxite)
How does it work?

Overband Magnet is
placed over the conveying belts carrying the material. This system arrests
Ferromagnetic materials from distance of 300mm/12 inches from feed material
which is transported through the production process.
Construction:

Overband magnets
are generally in big sizes depending upon the width and speed of the conveyor belt.
They are provided with eye bolts, D shackle and sling chains with turnbuckles
for adjustments while mounting.
Specification:
·
Flux density: 1500 ± 200 gauss
·
Lifting Distance: Upto 300mm/12inches
Besides
customized Overband magnets, PML also supplies standard Overband magnets as
below:
|
Sr |
Size (LxWxH) in mm |
|
1 |
650x650x245 |
|
2 |
800x800x245 |
|
3 |
1000x1000x245 |
|
4 |
1200x1000x245 |
Why PML Overband Magnet?
·
45 years of experience in design and development of Permanent Magnets
and Magnetic Systems.
·
Mounting chains are tested and certified for load bearing capacity by a
government approved testing Authority.
·
Customized Design
·
Services such as magnetic calibration/Audit are available.
